I'm on the Twitter. You can follow me @LaughingDawg. I follow Clif Bars, and they held a holiday contest/clever marketing event called the Twelve Days of #Clifmas. They posted a different task every day, and contestants tweeted their best efforts with the hashtag #Clifmas. And all those posts went out to all their followers... Brilliant.
One contestant was selected every day to win a box of their various products. And, everyone who posted was automatically entered to win the grand prize - a one year supply of Clif Bars!
I was motivated. I managed to write such instant classics as:
"I'm dreaming of a White Macadamia Nut #Clifmas, just like the ones I used to know ..."
and,
"Twas the night before #Clifmas, and I rumaged thru my pack, for an Apricot Clif Bar, on which I could snack."
Genius, right? And yet somehow I never won any of the daily contests. So you can imagine my joy at getting a Tweet the day after Christmas telling me I had won the grand prize. Woo-hoo!
As it turns out, a year's supply is about one a day, which they said they'd be glad to send me before we take off on our Appalachian Trail thru-hike attempt. We'll get a mix of the original Clif, Mojo, and Builder bars. All high in calories/oz to keep our pack weight down, high in fat and carbs to fuel the beast, and a goodly amount of protein to help repair/build muscles.
Good stuff. And we'll be loading them up into drop boxes to assure we have a constant supply of it.

Right On! Congratulations
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME! I have the same repertoire in my drop boxes... but I bought them all (or rather have been slowly buying for the past 6 months)! Maybe we can trade flavors if we run into one another on the Trail?
ReplyDeleteThanks folks. I'm pretty stoked. Between these bars, some dehydrated veggies I got, sections of the AT guide, maps, and the Emergen-C deal, drop boxes have become a sure thing. As for trading - Hell yeah!
