Where I'm At

I know, I know ... I've been delinquent in posting updates. I'd like to say I've been completely focused on banging out the miles. But, the truth is, I took the easy way out and just updated Facebook with photos and a few lines. I'm sorry.

And, the Blogger app for android does not seem to allow me to respond to comments ...

I've written several updates, and I'll continue to do so till I'm up to date. Which brings me to that point.

Once again, an injury has taken me off the trail...

I made it thru the Whites, the Green Mountains and into Manchester, VT. All while limping along with foot pain that was all too slowly improving. A doctor on the trail suggested I get a script for Prednisone, and that was working swell.

Then I saw this big ole lump in my lower abdomen. A trip to the medical center confirmed I have a hernia. And the doc said it's an unacceptable risk to be on the trail lest my innards try to sneak out of my abdomen.

So, I'm home. Surgery is scheduled in three weeks, then recovery ... I'm planning to get back on the trail in mid-April. The plan right now is to get back on where I got off in North Carolina, and hike north to Manchester for the 2000 miler patch!

In the meantime, I'm researching how one goes about getting a book of photography published. I have a pretty good group of images covering the trail I've hiked so far, and I still have 1400 miles to cover ...

Click the link below to see what I've culled from the pile so far. I'd love to read your comments!

  1. LDog, I'm very sorry to hear that you got hurt again. Hope the surgery and recovery go well so you can (I know you will) make it back to the trail. It may be a long wait til spring, but the trail is worth it. Think positive, you had the guts to go out and try something that is beyond most peoples wildest dreams. Words cannot explain the feeling you get when you complete it. God Bless, Boomer

    1. Thanks for your heartfelt comments. I can't help but smile at your suggestion that I "had the guts". I still have them, they're just trying to sneak out my iguana hole! Thanks for the smile.
